The Mitchell B-25 was perhaps the most versatile aircraft in WWII. On April 18, 1942, sixteen B-25s were launched from the USS Hornet in an effort to prove the Japanese mainland was not invincible. Five years ago, I had the opportunity to fly in the "Miss Mitchell"--a fully restored B-25. It was one of the most memorable flights of my life. You not only heard but felt the twin rotary engines cough into action. As we started our take-off roll you could feel the raw power of the 14-cylinder Wright Cyclone engines. I still get goose bumps thinking about it! Own a reminder of one of the greatest aircraft ever to have been built.
