Vintage illustration Merry Christmas text design originally published by Currier & Ives in 1876. The text Merry Christmas is surrounded by holly, acorns, flowers, ivy and other traditional holiday foliage.
Currier and Ives was a successful American printmaking firm headed by Nathaniel Currier (1813–1888) and James Merritt Ives (1824–1895) based in New York City from 1834 to 1907. The prolific firm produced prints from paintings by fine artists as black and white lithographs that were hand coloured.

I was actually surprised by the quality. The material feels like it can handle the wash and the print seems to be set deep in the fibers. BUT I have not washed it yet. The printing was accurate and looks like it can handle washing.
