I first met Luther Hampton on Beale Street in Memphis Tennessee in BB King's. One would think that he was a street person, carrying around a backpack full of old sketch books. But that is not the case for this talented artist. Included in the book Notable Black Memphians, his award winning work can be found around the country. While at BB Kings enjoying the blues, Mr. Hampton let me look through his sketchbooks. I was drawn to this self portrait and immediately purchased it outright.
