Medb is an Irish Goddess of sovereignty, independence, wealth, vitality, and fertility; She represents the power of the land without which no King may rule. Medb of Connacht (known from the Táin Bó Cuailnge, or the Cattle Raid of Cooley) is a later euhemerized version of the Goddess. Her name means 'Intoxicating' and is related to the word 'mead'.
