Mary D. Hume, Gold Beach, Oregon Glass Coaster
The Mary D. Hume was built in 1881 in Gold Beach, Oregon, by a pioneer named R. D. Hume. He named it after his wife & it was originally used for his cannery. The steamer was also used as a tugboat, whaler, & coastal freighter for a total of 97 years of service! In 1977 it was retired & returned back to Gold Beach. It began to sink in 1985 in the Rogue River & has remained there ever since. it is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, & still holds the record for the longest serving vessel of the Pacific Coast! Glass Coaster
Very nice glass coaster. A great personalized birthday gift for the Edmonton Oilers super fan.
I only wish the glass was thicker as it appears in the photos. Hope it hold up..
