Marrakesh Morocco Postcard

The Medina of Marrakesh, a UNESCO World Heritage site, is the historic heart of the city. It is a dense, walled quarter filled with a labyrinth of narrow souks, vibrant markets, ornate palaces, and traditional Riads. Prominent landmarks include the Koutoubia Mosque, with its striking minaret, and the bustling Jemaa el-Fnaa square. The architecture is characterized by red-ochre walls, intricate geometric patterns, and courtyard-centred buildings. The flat rooftops of Marrakesh form a sprawling, interconnected network that is essentially a second city level. From these high points, one can overlook the complex geometric mosaic and view the Atlas Mountains in the distance. At night, with the call to prayer echoing and the sky clear, it offers a peaceful, panoramic escape for watching the moon and stars.
