Marcel Duchamp Anémic Cinéma Coffee Mug

Entertain in style with this stunning coffee mug designed in the style of Marcel Duchamp's Anémic Cinéma film. The design comes from the 1926 Dada/surrealist experimental film by Rrose Sélavy (the alter ego of Marcel Duchamp) made in collaboration with Man Ray and Marc Allégret. Duchamp made Anémic Cinéma by filming nine rotating cardboard discs with spirals drawn on them and ten rotating discs inscribed with verbal puns. Alternating on screen, these discs turn in different directions and at varying speeds. The discs with spirals seem to pulse in and out, as if they were three-dimensional, while those with puns must be read, which emphasizes the flatness of their surfaces. The two words of the film’s title are both an anagram and a near palindrome, being readable almost identically forward and backward.
