Es un fragmento de un mapa elaborado por el Almirante y Cartógrafo Otomano Piri Reis en 1513. El mapa incluye bellísimos dibujos, acompañados de inscripciones que indican descubrimientos importantes. Uno de ellos se corresponde, casi con total certeza, con la expedición de Pedro Álvares Cabral de 1500. Se cree que Cabral "descubrió" Brasil cuando los vientos lo sacaron de su ruta, en un viaje a las indias orientales.
