Mandil w Chachiya: Symbols of Jebala Identity Tile

Mandil w Chachiya: Symbols of Jebala Identity Tile

Mandil: The Mandil is a traditional square piece of fabric worn by women in northern Morocco. More than a garment, it is a cultural marker of modesty and elegance. Often woven with distinctive patterns, the mandil reflects the artistry of local communities and serves as a visible link between daily life and ancestral heritage. Its presence in festivals and gatherings underscores the role of women as guardians of tradition, carrying forward the identity of their region through fabric and form. Chachiya: The Chachiya, also known as Chechia Jeblia, is a traditional headgear from the Jebala region in northwestern Morocco. Worn by women during artistic and cultural occasions, it is both decorative and symbolic. The chachiya crowns the wearer with a sense of pride, embodying the spirit of the Jebala community. Its intricate design and ceremonial use make it a living emblem of Moroccan heritage, celebrated in performances, weddings, and cultural exhibitions.

Ceramic Tile, 10.80 cm x 10.80 cm
From the pictures we needed to replace two tiles that had the old toothbrush and soap dish and the tile guy said two tiles would have to be removed. The tiles were PERFECT! just a slight color difference to the naked eye but they match pretty darn good. Tile guy had to shave the back because the 1957 tile was thinner but as you can see it worked out great! We are elated over the moon happy, Thank you!
