Mainstreet Burke Ghost Town - Idaho Poster

Burke was a unique mining town in north Idaho's silver valley. It was located up in a narrow mountain canyon barely wide enough for a street and buildings on each side .... and there was a creek, too. The hotel had the distinction of having the creek and the railroad run through its lobby for lack of space. It was said that vendors had to roll up their awnings if word came of wide-load trains arriving in town. Not much is left of the original Burke, but a few hardy souls still live in the canyon along with remnants of the Hecla Mining Company mill and mine.
