Ludwig van Beethoven, 1820 Ceramic Ornament
An 18th and 19th century German composer and pianist. He is considered to be one of the greatest composers of all time, born in Bonn. He was taught by his father, Johann van Beethoven. During the period of self-exile, he composed many of his most admired works. His career is divided into early middle, and late periods. During his life he composed 9 symphonies, 5 piano concertos, one violin concerto 32 piano sonatas, 16 string quartets 2 masses and the opera Fidello. In 1826, his 14th string quartet was considered his final major piece performed before his death a year later.
