Lord Byron (by Laslett John Pott) Card

This design features a painting by the British artist Laslett John Pott (1837–1898). It depicts George Gordon Byron (1788–1824), known simply as Lord Byron, who was an English poet. He was one of the leading figures of the Romantic movement, and he is now regarded as one of the greatest of English poets. Among the best-known works of Lord Byron are "Don Juan" and "Childe Harold's Pilgrimage". Byron was educated at Trinity College, Cambridge, later travelling extensively across Europe to places such as Italy, where he lived for seven years in Venice, Ravenna and Pisa. During his stay in Italy, he frequently visited his friend and fellow poet Percy Bysshe Shelley. This artwork was painted by Laslett John Pott in 1813, when Lord Byron would have been approximately 25-years-old.
