The first issue of ONE Magazine was published in January of 1953, making it the first sustained serial publication in the Western hemisphere devoted exclusively to homosexuality. The magazine featured articles, editorials, short stories, book reviews, and letters to the editor. The aim of ONE Magazine was to deal primarily with homosexuality from the scientific, historical and critical point of view.
