The bisexual flag was created in 1998 by Michael Page, who wanted to boost the visibility of bisexual people outside of the greater LGBTQ+ community. Page describes the meaning of the pink, lavender, and blue flag as this: "The pink colour represents attraction to the same gender only (gay and lesbian). The blue represents attraction to the opposite gender only (straight) and the resultant overlap colour purple represents attraction to both genders (bi)."
