It shows Lesbia, which was the literary pseudonym used by the Roman poet Catullus (circa 82–52 BC) to refer to his lover. She has a pet sparrow perched on her wrist, looking into her eyes. It is an elegant depiction of feminine beauty. The original painting was completed in 1907.
