Leggings - Black Gothic Rose

Though black is usually associated with death or the darker side of human nature, it is not the only meaning black roses represent. They also represent the demise of old, bad habits or the end of a time that opens vistas for a new beginning. Some believe that black roses are symbolic of a tragic love but others believe they represent a deep, pure devotion that is as deep and rare and the black rose itself. The Irish used the black rose to symbolize both resistance and courage during their battle against the British while others see this unique flower as a symbol of anarchy. A search of literary works reveals that there are huge numbers of books that are either entitled with some derivation of "black rose" or feature the flower or symbol in the story-line. Some of these books are dark, dealing with vampires and demons, and some of these books are more "adult" in nature. Also, in nature, the black rose does not really exist; rather it is a term used to describe flowers that are such an incredibly dark red or purple that they may appear "black" at first glance. Florists, however, do have the ability to artificially colour or dye roses and other flowers to a truer black. This particular bloom is neither. This is a computer "dyed" version of the dark pink rose, also featured in a collection in this store. Here, it is merely a little nod to our "Goth" friends that provides a fabulously subtle shadow on shadow barely perceptible overlapping pattern on these wonderful leggings.
