Left Tomoe (cut-out) Golf Head Cover

The left and right sides of the tomoe are not determined by the direction of the swirl, but rather by a rational name created from the design. Even a skilled artist may be momentarily unsure of the left and right sides of the tomoe. However, they recall a useful oral tradition... First, make a fist with your left hand and look at your wrist. The shape is that of a left tomoe. If you make a fist with your right hand, the shape of a right tomoe appears immediately (from 'The Story of Family Crests' by Tsumao Awagasaka, p.61). This design is a cut-out (printed) version. 'Surikomi' is a technique... where a pattern is designed, the tomoe is cut out to create a stencil, and then paint is applied with a brush (reference: 'The Power of the Swastika, the Curse of the Tomoe' by Tsumao Awagasaka, p.146).
