Pretty sure that as cows adapt to living on the side of a mountain, their downhill legs get longer, and their uphill legs get shorter, which allows them to stay level on the mountainside while grazing. Unfortunately, that adaptation causes problems when the cows are then relocated to a very flat prairie environment. Trust me on this as scientific, evolutionary truth.
