The rivers are the source of food, water, transportation, entertainment, relaxation and more. The beauty of the river, and the Amazonian villages, is indescribable. As we see here, the women have not only the hard work of scrubbing all the laundry in the river, but also must carry it up and down the river banks to the village. Depending on the time of the year and level of the river, the trek back up the bank carrying all that laundry takes huge effort from some very strong women.
