Lake Wales History Museum Florida Postcard

The Lake Wales History Museum is housed in the 1916 Seaboard Air Line Freight Depot and features an old caboose as well as this old locomotive. The locomotive is a Whitcomb 65 ton unit serial number 60422. It was built in 1944 for the US Army and used in Europe. After the war, it was brought back to the US and did civilian duty with several chemical and agricultural companies including Mobil. Now it sits at this museum, sadly rusting away, but you can climb on it and imagine what its former lives were like.
