Lady Drinking Tea with Cat. Oil on canvas from 1918. One of the great commercial and art nouveau painters working in Russia, Boris Kustodiev employed a style that emphasized bright colours, sharp figures and striking landscapes. This is one of his most charming paintings which features a merchant’s wife drinking tea before a rich table set with watermelon, fruit, bread and beautiful pewter ware. A happy cat rubs up against her shoulder. The woman wears a pretty blue bonnet and the summer in Moscow is warm with a bright sky. A great gift for fans of Boris Kustodiev, Russian Art, cat paintings, and art nouveau.

Being a fan of Black Cats & history I learned about a cabaret during the Belle epoch (1870-1914) that featured a Black Cat advertisement poster. I felt the need to own a piece of this history for myself. The printing is excellent and legible.
