La Pasionaria No Pasaran Mug

This striking sculpture pays homage to freedom fighter Dolores Ibarruri, the Spanish Civil War heroine known as `La Pasionaria’ (The Passion Flower). Made of fibre glass, it stands on the banks of the River Clyde in Glasgow, Scotland, UK, Europe and honours the 2100 British volunteers who went to war against fascism in the 1930s. Of the 534 volunteers who were killed, 65 of them were from Glasgow. She is shown standing defiantly with both arms raised to the heavens. The mug features her famous quote 'No pasaran,' or 'They shall not pass” in orange, yellow and red. The sculpture of La Pasionaria is by Arthur Dooley of Liverpool (1929 -1994).
