Renoir will be a great specialist in the portraits of children, his own - Jean Renoir - or those of others as here in this sensitive composition that presents the usual characteristics of impressionism: interest in light and color, atmospheric sensation, colored shadows and interest in subjects of daily life. But Renoir's great contribution will be his interest in the person, to whom he almost gives up in none of his compositions, unlike Monet, who is interested in the pure landscape.
