Kochi Castle Japan Postcard

Kochi Castle is one of only twelve original castles in Japan to have survived with its feudal-era keep intact. Perched atop Otakasa Hill, the fortress offers panoramic views of Kochi City and reflects the power of the Yamauchi lords who once ruled the Tosa province. Unique among Japanese castles, its main tower (donjon) was used both as a military lookout and as a residence for the daimyo. The elegant white walls and dark wooden accents are beautifully framed by cherry blossoms in spring, making it a symbol of historical resilience and architectural elegance.
