Knight with Princess in Garden Vintage Fantasy Binder

Illustration by Henry James Ford or H J Ford as he is also known. The Lilac Fairy Book contains fairytales edited by "Andrew Lang". Published 1910 The inscription that goes with the vintage illustration is "How the King found the girl playing ball in the orchard" The painting shows a woman dressed in Renaissance or Medieval clothing tossing a red ball into the air while her dog watches. In the distance the King looks on. He wears armour. In the background is a castle. The orchard is full of flowers, daffodils and narcissis. The colours are rich Pre-Raphaelite hues.
