This is a wonderful and playful painting by Dutch artist Henriette Ronner-Knip (1821-1909). When she first started painting, she concentrated mainly on landscapes. While she was known for her paintings in general, her specialty became the companion cat. Ultimately she dedicated almost all of her time to painting cats, which earned her the the nickname "Queen of Cat Painters.”
