Kirsten Marie passing the City of Unalaska, Alaska Postcard

The Kirsten Marie was a commercial crab boat and it fished for crab in the Bering Sea during the boom years of crab fishing in Alaska. Now the Kirsten Marie has been repurposed and does other work for Unisea Inc. The Kirsten Marie is shown here passing through the narrow channel which separates Unalaska Island from the much smaller Amaknak Island. The beach front of the City of Unalaska is visible in the background, along with the historical Russian Orthodox church, which was built in the early 1790's. The KIrsten Marie was one of many commercial fishing vessels which made up the crab fishing fleet of the Bering Sea.
