Kikyo in Combined Square Tile

Kikyōmon, or the Paulownia Crest. Famous as the crest used by Sakamoto Ryōma, a hero of the Meiji Restoration. The name refers to the outer frame of the crest. Some sources, including the historian Tsurugi Yōichi and 'Kamon Daizen' (supervised by Honda Sōichirō), refer to it as 'combined masu' or 'overlapping squares', but major crest references such as 'Mon no Shiori' and 'Hei'an Monkan' all use 'Kumiai Kaku', so we follow that convention.
