Kicker Rock, Galápagos Islands Ecuador Postcard

Kicker Rock, known locally as León Dormido, is one of the most iconic dive sites in the Galápagos Islands. This towering volcanic formation rises dramatically from the Pacific Ocean, creating a narrow channel between two steep rock faces that serve as a magnet for marine life. Divers are drawn to its crystal-clear waters where hammerhead sharks, sea turtles, eagle rays, and colourful reef fish gather in abundance. The site is located near San Cristóbal Island and offers some of the most exhilarating underwater scenery in Ecuador. Strong currents bring nutrient-rich waters, supporting a thriving ecosystem that changes with each dive. Above the surface, the rock formation resembles a sleeping lion, while below, it reveals a world of deep blue walls, coral patches, and swirling schools of fish.
