Kelpie: This dark folklore originates in Scotland where it is said that the rivers and streams there are haunted by a shape shifting water spirit. The Kelpie most often appears in the shape of a black, grey, or white horse but will also appear as an old man or a beautiful young woman. This malevolent creature is not kind. Its intention is to lure people to the waters edge where the Kelpie can then drag them under to drown so they can become its next meal.
