In 1923, he assumed the presidency after President Warren G. Harding's death, and he won the subsequent election in 1924. Coolidge's presidency was marked by economic prosperity, often referred to as the "Roaring Twenties." He advocated for limited government intervention in the economy, signed the Immigration Act of 1924, and presided over a period of reduced national debt. Coolidge chose not to seek re-election in 1928, and he retired from politics at the end of his term. He passed away on January 5, 1933.
