Poster featuring the painting Melody (1895-1897), or Musica, by Kate Bunce. The picture features a young woman playing a lute. The model may have been the artist's sister Myra. The musician is facing an open window, visible in the mirror behind her. The mirror also shows a crucifix and stained glass image of the Virgin, suggesting that the she is performing inside a small chapel. On the right side of the woman is an ornate vase, overflowing with apple blossoms. The painting has a solemn atmosphere, but is also very decorative, full of luxurious colours, details and textures. Kate Elizabeth Bunce (1856 – 1927) was an English painter and poet associated with the Arts and Crafts movement.
