Kaga Umebachi A Mug

Kaga Umebachi A Mug

Ume-mon Crest This is based on the design of "Nihon Monshogaku" written by Yorisuke NUMATA, and based on the drawing method of the Umebachi (starting from the drawing method of the circle by dividing the circle by 10 according to the method of dividing the crest) in "Manji no Makuryoku, Tomoe no Churyoku" written by Tsumao AWASAKA, and drawing it (2013/6/21) in consideration of the uniformity as a part of the Umebachi series of the Kaga Maeda family. The third lord of the Kaga Domain was Toshitsune, who was a son of Toshiie (the first lord of the domain) but also a concubine, Chiyo, because Toshinaga (the second lord of the domain) had no children and his wife was Princess Tama, a daughter of Hidetada, the second shogun of the Tokugawa Shogunate. This Toshitsune put a small sword in the center of the plum bowl. This became the Umebachi-mon of the head family of the Maeda family in Kaga Province, which was called Kenbaibachi-mon, and at the time of Tsunanori, the fifth lord of the domain, it became the Jomon of the head family of the Maeda family. In particular, this Kenbaibachi-mon came to be called 'Kaga Umebachi.' (Written by Yoshiaki KUSUDO, "The Family Crest that Gives Full Views of the Japanese Mind"

Love this mug! Zazzle does such a GREAT job - it's shiny, and pretty, and really shows off the whimsical artwork extraordinarily well. You really can't tell how awesome it's going to be until you hold it in your hands. My new favourite mug! The printing was clear, sharp, and beautiful. Really showcased the artwork in true colours. Excellent craftmanship! Couldn't be happier.

Classic Mug, 325 ml
Colors just as bright as shown on-line. Would be nice if the colour choices for interior & handle on the large mug were as many as on the smaller one.
