The Imperial Crest of Japan. Background color is crimson. Chrysanthemum emblem is gold. Width is 1.5 times the length. Center of chrysanthemum is at the center of the flag. Diameter of the center is 1/10 of the length. Diameter of the chrysanthemum is 2/3 of the length. In 1869, the types of chrysanthemum crests for princely families were regulated, and later 'the family crest pattern for the Imperial Family' was illustrated... The crest itself was strictly defined in the 'Imperial Family Protocol' of 1926... The 'Imperial Family Protocol' was abolished in 1947. Although there are currently no legal prohibitions, it is protected by trademark. ('Comprehensive Guide to Japanese Family Crests' Shin Jinbutsu Oraisha) Note that this design is not drawn according to the regulations.
