Japanese Koi Hiroshige Fish Festival Flag Long Apron
This is a vintage Japanese woodcarving from 1857 (Hiroshige), showing three carp banners, or koi flags, which depicted the Boy's Festival. The carp, or Japanese koi is as a symbol of strength, as this fish was strong enough to jump up a waterfall. The carp is also considered a good luck fish, a wonderful symbol for young boys and for good luck.
