Step into Jane Austen’s garden! This watercolor features the garden behind Jane Austen's cottage in Chawton (now Jane Austen's House Museum), where she lived with her mother and sister, and from which all her books were published. Jane loved this garden and helped to plan it. Gardeners now are careful to grow only plants that were known in Austen’s lifetime. Taken from an original painting by award-winning watercolor artist, Carolyn Marshall Wright; based on a photo taken by author Lori Smith, during research for her book, A Walk with Jane Austen.
