A small thing to honour Judge J. Skelly Wright of the D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals, one of the great 'activist' judges of the 20th century. As a federal district judge in Louisiana, he was key to the desegregation of New Orleans schools. His opinions are taught in law schools across the United States. Here shown (foreground) judging the Ames Moot Court competition at Harvard Law School in 1977, together with Justice Thurgood Marshall (of the Supreme Court) and Chief Justice Edward Hennessey (of the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court).
