Ix Chel Greeting Card

Ix Chel ('Lady Rainbow') is the Maya Goddess of the rainbow, weaving, water, and the Moon. She is shown here with two related Goddesses (Who may be aspects of Her): on the left the elderly midwife goddess Chak Chel, Who brought about the destruction of the third creation by causing a great flood; to Her right is the young Moon Goddess, shown with Her rabbit. They all wear traditional Maya textiles; the dramatic red background and the water animals at the bottom are after the Maya-style murals of Cacaxtla, Mexico. Art by Thalia Took, in watercolor pencils.
