Italian Water-Carrier Girl Coffee Mug

This design features a painting by the Italian artist Eugene de Blaas (1843–1931). It shows a beautiful girl wearing traditional dress from an Italy city. She is wearing a simple skirt with a colourful scarf around her neck; she has bare feet. Her brunette hair is flowing in the wind. She appears to be standing on a stone bridge, perhaps in Venice or Florence. She is a poor working woman, but she is confident, relaxed and proud of her beauty. She is giving a wry smile to the viewer. There are two jugs for carrying water beside her feet. The original art was painted in 1908.

I was originally happy about my purchase and Nana loved the gift. HOWEVER, the description specifically says that these are microwave and dishwasher safe, BUT the first time Nana put this mug in the dishwasher it was destroyed. Not impressed..
