Born en Angleterre, Louis Rhead immigrated to the U.S.A. at the age of 24. Along with his poster art and illustrations for a number of célébrinent magazine, donc illustrated a number of children's books, inculding Robin Hood, The Swiss Family Robinson, Robinson Crusoe, The Deerslayer, Treasure Island, Kidnapped and Heidi.
