This is a face from the illegal pet trade - a young orangutan, rescued from an abusive "home." Because orangutans are gentle, intelligent, and sweet natured, some people think they might make a good pet. The "wild" in wildlife tells us where they are meant to live.
The artist is actively involved in orangutan rescue, rehabilitation, and fund raising for this endangered species. She donates 100% of her profits to the OFI Care Centre on the island of Borneo for orphaned orangutans.
