Ihlara Valley Turkey Postcard

Ihlara Valley is a stunning canyon near Aksaray, Turkey, famous for its ancient rock-cut churches and lush, tree-lined Melendiz River flowing at its base. Formed by the erosion of volcanic ash, the valley stretches for 16 kilometres, with sheer cliffs that rise over 100 metres, creating a dramatic natural oasis amidst the semi-arid Cappadocia landscape.
