Happy with this result, you turn to the ramifications of your new theory, you know, to bulk up the discussion section of the paper. That's when the wheels come off. At this point, most of us would take our new theory to the alley out back and douse it with lighter fluid, quietly kicking the ashes into the neighbour's yard after we killed it with fire (along with your career, your youthful optimism, and your dreams of escaping the mean streets of Circle Pines).
