Monarch butterflies, like many insects, have been in decline due to habitat loss. Kids today will see 35% fewer butterflies than their parents did 40 years ago. Monarchs migrate south each fall from Canada to central Mexico, and you can often see them crossing busy east / west roads dodging traffic and buildings. I have often slammed on brakes as they glide overhead just above the cars and trucks. Brake! And plant milkweed!
