Regional flag of Hong Kong The Hong Kong flag is red in colour, with a white flower design in the centre. The stylised flower is that of the five-petaled Hong Kong orchid tree (Bauhinia blakeana). The flag was adopted in 1990 and came into official use in 1997. It has a 2:3 ratio. You can personalise the design further if you'd prefer, such as by adding your name or other text, or adjusting the image - just click 'Customize it' to see all the options.
