On only one day a year could anyone enter the Holiest Place of the Wilderness Tabernacle (or Temple) - that was the Day of Atonement or Yom Kippur. Here that holiest of days is illustrated as the High Priest applies the bllod to the "Mercy Seat" between the Cherubim of the Ark of the Covenant. On this day the High Priest laid aside his ceremonial robes and wore the simple linen garments of a servant.
