Helsinki Central Railway Station Coaster

These are rather special sandstone coasters with a cork backing and you can have them as they are or use the 'Customize It!' option to add your own touches. Designed by architect, Eliel Saarinen, the Helsinki Central Railway Station was built between 1909 and 1919 and serves as an early example of what became known as Art Deco style architecture. This image shows two of the four large figures designed by Emil Wikstrom that flank the entrance to the station. Snow sits on their heads, shoulders and arms while each holds a globe which serves as lights after darkness falls. Using my original photographs as a starting point, I have employed various techniques to create these delicious retro-style images. If you like this design (or not) then leave a comment.
