The most important thing we all can do to increase the butterfly population is plant native milkweed and plant flowering plants. Adult Monarch butterflies need nectar from flowers and milkweed to lay their eggs. Monarch caterpillars need milkweed, their only food source. Consider not using pesticides or over mowing milkweed areas.
