This Hawaii postcard shows waves hitting the seawall in downtown Kailua Kona on the "Big Island" of Hawaii which has 13 different climate zones, from an often-snow-topped Mauna Kea to tropical rain forests and desert. There are many beautiful beaches on this island but they are rarely visible from the road that runs around the island's perimeter. 2009 was the 50th anniversary of Hawaii becoming our 50th state.
