Harmaja Lighthouse Helsinki Finland Postcard

This design features the Harmaja Lighthouse and island which lies outside Helsinki, just south of the Suomenlinna sea fortress, along the shipping lanes across the Baltic Sea. Snows of winter and a frozen sea here hide the fact that Harmaja is a small island. At the centre stands the lighthouse with its distinctive green dome and weather vane above the red and white banded lighthouse tower. Lower lying brick buildings surround the tower built on granite that is covered in snow. The Finnish coastline is just visible on the horizon, separated from Harmaja at this time of year by miles of frozen ice, broken up in the path of sea-going vessels.
